One of the healthiest changes I made last year and will continue enjoying this year is the Green Smoothie. Smoothies are a great way to get healthy, have energy and get all your veggies in for the day. If you incorporate one green smoothie a day, in your daily diet, it can do wonders for your health. For me, it changed the way I eat for good. Nice healthy vegetables are always part of my daily plan.
Some of the best health benefits of the smoothie is that it’s pure nutrition, especially if you use all organic foods. Of course the level of nutrition you receive will depend on the foods you choose to use in each individual smoothie. They are a great way to get lasting energy, keep you full longer and low in calories.
This is a great book. It’s an easy read with tons of great information especially for the beginner. When I say “information” I mean education.
I learned a lot from this book. She also includes 132 recipes and so I felt like I got my money’s worth even for this low price. I haven’t even tried all the recipes… yet.
The green smoothie is different than juicing. I tried juicing one time and discovered that’s not for me. Not only was it time consuming, a mess to clean up, but the whole time I couldn’t stop thinking about all the wasted good stuff, the fiber! Besides to make a good juice, you need a good juicer and those are usually VERY expensive. Smoothies can be made with a regular blender. I fortunately have a vitamix and so I make enough for 2 smoothies at a time normally. I have one for breakfast and then a liquid snack later in the day. It keeps my energy level smooth all day long and I think I sleep better at night.
I will never forget my first thought when I first tasted a green smoothie… “so the color green does have a flavor”. I have to admit that my first try at making a smoothie was not the best tasting item I ever made. However, I have learned to make them smooth, tasty and really enjoy them. The recipes in this book are fantastic and helped me a lot until I learned how to combine ingredients into a flavorful meal.
